Terracotta & Twine needed a full rebrand of everything including their brand identity, product photography and website.
THE BRAND - MACRAME DIY KITS AND BESPOKE MACRAME PIECES
Creating macrame DIY kits and bespoke macrame pieces, Terracotta & Twine is a really fun brand, looking to help macrame beginners get started with unique, beginner friendly projects. Their bespoke items are created to client specifications - perfect for customers look for unique art to fill a particular space.

THE GOAL - REBRAND TO SOMETHING MORE APPROACHABLE
At the beginning of this rebrand, Terracotta & Twine's goal was to create a fun and approachable brand identity that would be super versatile and allow for the website, printed products and marketing materials to all be really cohesive and eye-catching.
As the business creates instructional products, it was important to keep the branding clear and uncomplicated to give reassurance to macrame beginners that these are clear and uncomplicated macrame DIY Kits.
THE LOGO - SIMPLE, VERSATILE AND BOLD
Terracotta & Twine wanted a logo that would continue to be relevant as the business develops and experiments. For this reason, I chose to create a purely typographical logo that can be applied to any medium and not be misleading.

FONTS AND COLOURS - RELEVANT, CLEAR, BRIGHT, FUN
The fonts I chose for Terracotta & Twine are easy to read, non-fussy fonts allowing customers to focus on the products and the instructions inside, without being distracted by the font they are written in.
The brand's colour palette focusses around shades of terracotta, whilst being eye catching enough to stand out on a shelf and having a big enough range of contrast to meet accessibility requirements on their website.
THE GRAPHICS - REPEATING PATTERN AND ICONS
Having a really visual, graphic element was something Terracotta & Twine wanted, as this could be repeated across their website and print items to strengthen the brand identity.
Bex Grimwood Creative came up with a repeating pattern consisting of icons which can also be used individually. The use of the icons and the pattern across all digital and print mediums is a really great way of adding cohesion and recognisability to the brand. It's also a super fun pattern and clues people in immediately to the fact that this is a craft based brand.

PHOTOGRAPHY - BRIGHT, LIFESTYLE AND PRODUCT PHOTOGRAPHY
The brief for the Terracotta & Twine photography was to create a mixture of product images (products against plain background), lifestyle images (products in use, with model etc.) and cut-out images (product only, no background).
Two photography sessions took place. The first was photos of completed macrame items. The second was photos of the DIY kits with their full packaging. As the packaging includes photos from the first session, they needed to be done separately with time for packaging design in between.

WEBSITE - ON BRAND, ACCESSIBLE, INFORMATIVE
When you first land on the Terracotta & Twine website, the brand colours are immediately recognisable. Scroll down slightly and you find the bespoke icons, which match the packaging in the photo above them.
I gave the website homepage a bunch of super shopper-friendly sections to help customers find what they are looking for, as well as providing Terracotta & Twine with lots of SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) opportunities along the way.
Accessibility was a massive consideration. As well as ensuring the website colours all met contrast recommendations, I made sure to add alternate text for all the images. This means people using a screen reader don't miss out on anything when viewing a website.
The website is fully responsive, which means that it looks great wether you view it on a desktop, laptop, tablet or phone. This is super important these days when so many people are online in different ways and expect a consistent, easy to use website experience across all their devices.

Overall, creating the full rebrand for Terracotta & Twine was so much fun! It was great trying to put everything together like a puzzle and thinking about how everything would be used and applied in the future whilst creating the initial building blocks.
